Under the Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018, aimed at reducing the consumption of alcohol in Ireland, we have seen huge changes in the sale of alcohol in Ireland.
Alcohol sections must now be cordoned off from general aisles in supermarkets, and restrictions on the advertising of alcohol are in full effect.
As well as affecting larger shops, smaller mixed sale shops are also being forced to enclose alcohol away from the rest of the store.
These smaller stores, as well as stores with limited staff numbers, have seen this as a problem in recent times, as it can lead to alcohol stock being moved to parts of the store where it is less visible to staff or CCTV systems. This can heighten the chance of bottle theft.

EAS SECURITY TAGS – Wire Bottle Tags
At Virtek, we also supply a full range of security tags for RF 8.2MHz and AM 58KHz EAS retail security systems. For additional protection we offer a comprehensive range of alarming tags – self-contained alarms which activate if the tag is tampered with.
Specifically catered to stores selling alcohol, our Wire Bottle Tags are an ideal and cost-effective solution to increase bottle security. This tag is designed to provide both a visual and physical deterrent against theft.
Virtek supply a broad range of retail security labels, ranging from EAS labels (for both AM and RF technologies) to non-EAS warning labels. The EAS labels will trigger an alert if taken out of the front of the store without deactivation or removal. Warning labels act purely as a visual deterrent.
